Privacy Policy

Introduction

At Epic vs Ikon, we care about your privacy, and we take pride in being a good steward of any data we collect from you or you choose to share with us. If you don't want to read the longer paragraphs below, here is the key information to know.

We care much more about providing data than collecting it

You may have noticed we don't run any ads and don't ask anything about you to then go ahead and sell it the 3rd parties. We only collect data we think will help further our goal of providing the best experience possible. Basically, we want to know if the way people interact with the site matches what we expected. If it doesn't, we may learn a feature we thought would be really helpful and popular was actually confusing and unintuitive; but now we know we should fix it.

We use 3 (or two depending on your settings) analytics services

  • Vercel Analytics to give a broad overview of the sites activity. It only aggregates all data anonymously and only tracks 4 things: Pages visited, which 3rd party site (if any) referred the visit, country and operating system.
  • Google Analytics for custom events. Basically tracking how many times features get used to see if people find them helpful.
  • Hotjar for surveys. But for complete transparency - we want to inform you it also has session playback capabilities. So while we're reading survey result 99% of the time we use the service, we do on occasion review a few sessions in the days after a big new feature release to make sure we didn't completely botch the feature. That said, we understand session playback, even when completely anonymous, can be unwanted. That is why Hotjar won't even load on the site if you have a DNT ("Do Not Track") request set in your browser.

These additional 3rd party services may set tracking cookies and here's why

  • Mapbox sets cookies to track sessions so they in turn can calculate our usage and know how much to bill us.
